What is Kre-Alkalyn® ?
Kre-Alkalyn® is "buffered creatine" that does not convert into creatinine prior to reaching skeletal muscle tissue. Kre-Alkalyn® is a nutritional supplement that comes in powder form. It is packaged in a purple caplet that can be administered orally. Kre-Alkalyn® is manufactured by All American Pharmaceutical Corporation and is registered under United States patent 6,399,661.
At every point of every day, your body needs energy. Now, this need is not for the kind of energy you get by drinking coffee or popping a diet pill filled with caffeine. That kind of energy is stimulant in nature, and in no way supports the body's nutritional energy requirements. The kind of energy we are talking about here is ATP energy. It's this kind of energy produced through the consumption of calories that allows the body to move. Without ATP energy, you wouldn't even be able to blink an eye, let alone lift a heavy dumbbell! The body derives this energy by using different metabolic mechanisms. In all, there are three energy systems responsible for the production of ATP energy. These are: the Phosphagen system, glycolosis, and the oxidative system. Each is being utilized to some degree every day. However, depending on your activity (energy requirements), the body may shift its primary dependence on one particular system.
Is Kre-Alkalyn® safe?
Because buffered creatine, also known as Kre-Alkalyn® or chelated creatine, only contains magnesium and creatine, it is regarded as a safe health supplement. If you were to take a magnesium supplement in tablet or powdered form along with a basic form of creatine such as creatine monohydrate, you would likely have similar results.
As there has not been an exhaustive amount of research done on buffered creatine, it is about as safe as all other supplements. If you want to take buffered creatine to build more muscle mass, you will need to be cleared by your doctor first.
